2004 Season - Week 2

It was a bad weekend with 6 players heading to the sick bay to join the 3 big injuries from week 1. It’s confirmed that Detroit’s Receiver Charles Rogers (Johnny) will miss the rest of the season. Aaron’s receiver, Buccaneer Joey Galloway is out 4-6 weeks while Paul’s wideout Steve Smith (Panthers) broke his leg in week 1’s Monday Night game and is out indefinitely. They were joined on Thursday by Panther RB Stephen Davis (Cheryl) who is out for 3-5 weeks with knee cartilage damage picked up in practice. Cheryl had a rough 3 days as yesterday she lost her other Franchise player, Steeler QB, Tommy Maddox who will be out for ‘an extended period of time’ with an elbow injury and her receiver (Cleveland’s First Round draft pick) Kellen Winslow for 6-8 weeks with a broken leg. Joining Charles Rogers in Johnny’s treatment room is his Franchise RB Duce McAllister who will be out up to 5 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Wayne’s Baltimore TE Todd Heap is listed as Very Questionable after a ‘cheap shot’ by Steeler LB Joey Porter left him with a twisted ankle, but there is better news for Phil whose Receiver Deion Branch missed all of the second half of the Patriot’s game in Arizona.after taking a wicked hit on his knee witnessed on Sky TV. His knee injury is not serious and he is expected to play next week. I’m sure Cheryl and Johnny are both looking forward to Trading Day 1 which is at 3pm on Sunday Oct 10th, immediately followed by New York Giants @ Dallas and then what promises to be a great shoot-out, Seattle @ St Louis. The Streak Is Over Lost in the Raiders 13-10 victory over Buffalo (sorry Paul & Phil - had to get that one in) was the fact that Jerry Rice failed to catch a pass in a game for the first time since a game in Washington on December 1st 1985!!! His 274 consecutive games with a reception streak lasted almost 20 years!!! Ironically the player who now has the longest streak is former teammate Tim Brown who caught 7 passes for Tampa Bay yesterday and is heading to a 10 year streak as he now has 174 consecutive games with a catch. Monday Night Football. We are at BUMS HQ at 6:30pm on Tuesday to watch what should be a cracking Monday Night game as Philadelphia entertain Minnesota. Donovan versus Daunte, Randy Moss & TO.
